Elements of a Great Story
Elaine Pofeldt
When telling stories in business, focus on a shared interest with your audience and have a few prepared, relatable, and concise stories in mind. Ensure these stories are purposeful, making complex subjects simpler or bridging gaps with potential clients. Personal anecdotes, like martial arts, can be effective if they spark emotion and genuine connection. Be mindful not to overshare; aim for stories that are engaging but not overly emotional. Test your stories to ensure they are relatable and feature a protagonist, ideally yourself or a customer similar to your target audience.
